YouWipe is an lightweight erasure software that can be up to 30% faster than other data erasure software on the market.
We do have an erasure speed of average of 100-150 mb/p.s.
Example:
1TB hdd (7200rpm) erased with NIST SP 800 Clear standard with 25% verification is done in 2h 45m, which is approx. 125 Mb/p.s..
SSD erasure is much faster, but is depending on the read/write speed of the drive. As average we know it will be 30m on 256GB 4x overwriting.
The speed of the erasure depends really on the hardware itself. The more hardware there is between the Motherboard and harddrive the slower it might get.
If you erase multiple SAS drives the HBA could be a bottleneck. If there is an read/write limit in the controller this could slow down the erasure.
The presence of HBA, DCO and/or Remapped or broken sectors could slower down the erasure significant.
